Jiddu Krishnamurti once said:
“To understand the immeasurable, the mind must be extraordinarily quiet, still.”
Most of us use our minds very little. We want our lives to be simple and free from problems, but that doesn’t happen. Instead, we spend our lives in struggle and hardship, and eventually, leave this world without truly living. How wonderful it would be if you could use your mind in the right way, apply it to your life, and make your life joyful and simple. By doing so, you can also achieve the possibilities that are the true purpose of your life.

Maya’s Story: The Power of Passion

Maya, a 21-year-old girl, was slightly better than average in academics. Like every parent, her parents also had big dreams for her future. But Maya was not just an ordinary girl—she was an exceptional painter. Painting was not just her hobby; it was her passion. She had a unique gift—whatever she saw once, she could capture its depth and bring it to life on canvas.
However, like many in society, her parents couldn’t see a future in painting. They thought it was an uncertain and risky career. Under their pressure, Maya took up a private job. The 12-hour, five-day work routine completely exhausted her. Over time, she became dull, unhappy, and weak. Slowly, she even stopped painting. Her parents couldn’t understand what was happening to her.
Often, in life, we follow the crowd without realizing what is right for us. Just because others have certain needs and desires, we assume ours must be the same.
One day, Maya’s office organized a painting competition. She participated half-heartedly, knowing she no longer had time for her passion. She believed she could never turn painting into her career. Somehow, she submitted her entry and returned home, not expecting anything.
A few days later, she received shocking news—her painting had been selected for the National Academy Award, and she was invited to receive a ₹10 lakh (1 million rupees) prize. Calls started pouring in, asking where she had learned such incredible painting skills.
Maya’s parents were stunned. They realized that the amount their daughter earned in months of work was now in her hands because of a single painting. More than that, they finally understood—art is not just a skill; it is an identity. And for Maya, it was her true passion.
Feeling guilty, her parents apologized to her and said, “Do what makes you happy. Follow your passion. We are with you.”
This story is not just about passion. In life, we often find ourselves surrounded by problems that we have created unknowingly, and many of them are unnecessary.
We get stuck in jobs or routines simply because others are doing the same, and they seem happy. But we never stop to ask ourselves: Are we the same as them? Do those things truly make us happy? Do we really want the same things? Is our destination the same as theirs?
We always look for a safe zone, but the truth is, a safe zone doesn’t last forever. So why not take a little effort to calm our minds and truly see what we actually want in life?
